Задание 38.1

Imagine that you are doing a project on why IT career is very popular among Zetland teenagers. You have found some data on the subject – the results of the opinion polls (see the table below). Comment on the data in the table and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
 

Write 200–250 words.

Use the following plan:

– make an opening statement on the subject of the project; 
– select and report 2–3 facts; 
– make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments; 
– outline a problem that can arise with some IT jobs and suggest a way of solving it; 
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on the importance of IT in the modern world.

Thanks to the rapid development of the Internet, today information technology (IT) is used in many areas of human activity. It is not surprising, therefore, that many young people would like to connect their career with this new and highly demanded field of knowledge. However, they choose an IT career for different reasons.

Of course, teenagers are most of all attracted by high salaries, which was reported by a third of the respondents. And 8 respondents out of 100 consider the possibility of constant development to be the most important thing for them. The possibility to find a job easily compared to the convenience of working from home was mentioned by 5% more teenagers. Obviously, teenagers are well aware that in today's world the availability of demand for specialists plays an important role.

There are many positive sides to an IT career, including numerous creative aspects, but a serious problem is the lack of socialization. Most programmers, web designers and cybersecurity specialists work day and night in front of a computer, effectively forgetting about real life. So, you can advise them to spend more time socializing with friends.

Information technology is needed everywhere today, because it ensures the growth of productivity and efficiency of enterprises. Good organization of work thanks to IT solutions allows enterprises to reduce costs and gain a competitive advantage. Therefore, I believe that an IT career is an excellent choice for young people who want to benefit society and at the same time expect to earn a good income.

Imagine that you are doing a project on what gifts Zetland teenagers would like to receive for their birthdays. You have found some data on the subject – the results оf the opinion polls (see the pie chart below).

Comment on the data in the pie chart and give your opinion on the subject of the project.

Write 200–250 words.

Use the following plan:

– make an opening statement on the subject of the project; 
– select and report 2–3 facts; 
– make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments; 
– outline a problem that can arise with birthday presents and suggest a way of solving it; 
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on how to choose birthday presents for your friends.

When we give birthday gifts to friends, we show that we value our friendship. However, choosing the right gift is an art. Sometimes it's easier to ask your friends what kind of gift they would like to receive. Indeed, this pie chart shows that while teenagers are most interested in digital devices, their tastes vary widely.

A quarter of respondents would like to receive a laptop and almost as many dream of a smartphone. This is easily explained by the fact that a modern smartphone is actually a portable computer. That is why the desire to get a laptop and a smartphone is so great. Among respondents, those who want to become gift certificate holders are three times fewer. This may be due to the fact that a gift certificate is only valid in a certain store, which may not always have what a teenager needs.

Judging by this pie chart, buying a digital device would please most Zetland teenagers. The problem may be that there are so many manufacturers today, so without knowing your friend's preferences, you could buy a device they won't like. So it's better to find out about your friend's wishes in advance by asking his relatives.

As you can see, Zetland teenagers hope to receive digital devices. Indeed, a significant part of the life of modern teenagers is spent on the Internet. The main thing is to give your friend exactly what he or she likes. If you know your friends well, you will easily understand what is on their wish list.
