Organ transplantation.

A) ______, nowadays there are diseases that cannot be cured. In such cases, it is possible to receive special treatment aimed at relieving pain, but it will not be able to help the patient to recover. B) ______, doctors around the world are thinking about how to save such patients. Among the possible solutions are organ transplants.

This idea is remarkable. If an organ cannot be cured, why not just C) ______ it with a new one? But there are many problems here. At the same time, scientists D) ______ their eyes to animals. Indeed, the organs of some animals are very similar to those of humans. For example, scientists are now discussing the transplantation of a pig's liver to humans. The second difficulty is related to the complexity of the operation, which has not yet been perfected. For example, back in the Soviet Union, a dog head transplant was E) ______, but scientists are not yet ready to dare to carry out a similar operation on a human. There were reports that an Italian surgeon was ready to transplant the head of a paralyzed Russian programmer, but the operation has never taken F) ______. Finally, the third problem concerns the fact that the body often G) ______ transplanted organs.

Nevertheless, organ transplantation is already a reality. For example, in Russia kidney, heart, liver and other organs are regularly transplanted. We can only hope for H) ______ progress in this field. For example, ophthalmologists dream that one day surgeons will learn to transplant eyes. Organ transplants will be especially relevant with the development of artificial tissue technology. In such a case, a donor would not even be needed.
