В варианте 1 тренировочного задания 11 ЕГЭ по английскому предлагается текст об американском изобретателе Томасе Эдисоне. Текст посвящен его жизни, карьере и изобретениям.

Прочитайте текст и заполните пропуски A–G частями предложений, обозначенными цифрами 1–7. Занесите цифры, обозначающие соответствующие части предложений, в таблицу.

Thomas Edison. 

Thomas Edison was one of America's foremost inventors. As a child he was a weak but very observant boy and interested in life around him. He did not do well in school A) ____________. However, this does not mean that he was not interested in knowledge. The future inventor read books on science.

In his youth, Edison's life was connected with the telegraph B) ____________. Thus, he managed to automate the telegraph and thus save his free time in the workplace. Years later he managed to sell his new developments in the field of messaging for a handsome sum. At the same time he was fond of chemical experiments C) ____________. Once there was a fire in the train carriage where he had equipped his laboratory. 

During his life Thomas Edison made many inventions D) ____________, including more than 1000 in the USA. His major inventions were the high-speed telegraph, the microphone, the phonograph, the incandescent lamp, the prototype cinematograph, and the battery. He not only came up with new ideas, but also applied them in practice. For example, E) ____________, more than half of such lamps in the United States were produced by Edison's firm. 

Thomas Edison embodies the ideal of the American dream. He worked his way up F) ____________. His curiosity, observation and diligence helped him succeed.
